It might not be a big surprise but robots are an increasingly common occurrence in everyday life. They pop up in films, TV shows, books and even real life when you think about things like self-service tills at shopping centres. The term robotics is an area of engineering that studies everything from the conception and design to manufacture and operation of robots.

Beyond simply being more convenient at the shop, robotics and its study introduces children to STEM subjects (Science, Technology, and Mathematics). This is important because STEM is becoming a more and more valuable skillset as the 21st century advances.

In Scotland, only recently have people begun actually teaching robotics which is where our 2020 Summer Boot Camp comes in. Our courses are a fun, engaging and stress-free way of introducing children to a fairly complicated and wide-ranging field. It will compliment their performance academically and provide them with a solid base for higher education and future job prospects.

Each week of our 2020 Summer Boot Camp will guide your child through some of the core concepts of robotics via a game. The key points here are:-

  • Teaches children as young as 6 the basics of computer programming
  • As children gain confidence they can go on to more ‘unlockable’ advanced tasks
  • No reading required and it takes seconds to learn how to play
  • Educational game designed to be played with parents or an older sibling
  • Teaches skills required by the new National Curriculum

Games Development

Has your child ever wondered how video games are made? Ever found them asking how something that happened on their TV was even possible? Our Games Development classes might help answer some of those curiosities game development and game engines among the main topics.

Each week of our 2020 Summer Boot Camp will focus on a different aspect of games development, starting with the basics and progressing through Intermediate and advanced software development. Boredom will never be a problem for your child as they learn about actors, backgrounds, scenes and sounds.

What’s new this year?

When we design our Summer camps we mainly have the best interests of the children at the forefront of our mind. However, this sometimes ends up making life a little more difficult for the parents than we intended. This year, we are changing the schedule of classes to be more flexible than ever.

Classes are now Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, in order to better accommodate working parents.

We will also accept bookings for 3 days a week (like previous years) on request if that is more convenient.

The price per week of the summer boot camp is £275 early bird discount is available.
